Recycling and waste management
When carrying out a demolition contract the building is surveyed for the amount of materials that can be recycled or salvaged, to ensure that the waste can be managed in the most environmentally friendly way.A commercial view at tender stage can also be taken and offered to the client as a credit if sufficient resalable materials are available.
Suitable materials are removed as work proceeds from demolition sites and recycled by crushing and screening or hand selection. Recycling can be carried out either on site or at our own dedicated recycling depot. This choice would normally be made on the size of the site and the amount of space available to locate the plant/equipment and waste containers.
When crushing concrete and suitable masonry on site many clients chose to retain the crushed material for their new development, to be used as aggregate which can reduces costs. The material normally produced is type 6F2 which is 125mm down and can be produced straight from the crusher. Different aggregates can be produced but involves additional screening.
